Sagino pranced nervously into Haven Alley, sniffing the air and shaking himself to try and get rid of the last scents of the dog catchers. He’d had run ins with them before, but this time had been far too close.
Sage trotted into his alleyway and headed straight for the dumpsters, where he knew the night’s food from the human’s would be. It was well past dark which and there was no noise from the restaurants, suggesting they were closed up for the night. He moved stealthily in the shadows, jumping onto a cardboard box which quivered precariously beneath his weight, then onto the closed side of the dumpster. The next second he was in.
Nudging around with his nose, the German Shepherd came against something with a strong scent and dragged it out. The humans called it ‘Garlic Bread’. It had a distinct taste, but was still nice. Unfortunately it wasn’t very filling and Sage had gobbled it down in an instant.
He began his explorations again, nudging into the very corners until he came up against something hard. It smelt good, and upon drawing it out, Sage realised it was meat! Strangely shaped, but it smelt good. It was on a lot of little bones stuck together.
Dragging his prize out after him, Sage leapt onto the dumpster lid again and directly to the cement, where he promptly lay down to chew on his dinner. At a sound from the other end of the alley, Sage’s ears pricked up and he paused in his eating, looking up, eyes searching until they fell on the reason for the noise.

Sage’s eyes fell on a large Doberman and he sniffed the air. The other dog became immediately hostile, much to Sage’s affront. Getting to his feet, Sage growled from the back of his throat, hackles raised. This was his alley and no upstart was going to come in here and act like he owned it!
What do you want? Sage snarled, feet firmly planted over his chicken. It wasn’t as though the other dog couldn’t have been friendly and taken his pick from the many dumpsters lining the alleyway. Sage never took his gaze off the hostile intruder. Company he may have wanted, but this kind was not it.

Brute snarled, Before He turned, without using anything and hopped onto a dumpster. Most Of His ribs shown. A scar ran down from his eye to the muzzle of the beast. he was in the Dumpster with in second rummaging. He came out with a piece of what was called pizza. before he was down on the ground once more, it was gone within seconds, for where he came from there was no food in winter eat. You'd be lucky in summer if you could find a mouse or two there. There was one dumpster, but it was not filled often. For a month it had been this way. The beast was feared by most. " 'lo sorry bout that" he snapped, he had been driven on by hunger, turning against is own kind. Yet in Summer when food was plenty and he could eat more, he was strong and Feared more. His Name................Draco.

Sage, determining that the other dog posed no threat at that particular moment, stopped snarling and watched him jump into the dumpster for some pizza. Though seconds ago Sage had thought this would have been acceptable, after the threat of his own food being taken, he was feeling somewhat less generous, even after the apology.
‘This is my alley, you should be’. He retaliated smartly, a low growl behind his words. ‘I didn’t give you permission to waltz in here either.’ His hackles were still up, though his teeth were no longer bared. He would wait to see the reaction to his words before lowering his guard. If the other dog accepted and respected that point of view, they would be fine. If not…Sage wasn’t an aggressive dog by nature, but he would protect what was his.

Sage’s hackles rose to full height again and his claws dug into the cement below him, a low snarl emitting from his throat as his eyes narrowed. He took two steps forward. ‘I won’t tell you again, get – out!’ he growled threateningly, his dark eyes flashing with fury. At the other dog’s obnoxious question, Sage had heard enough. ‘We settle this right now.’ He was quivering with anticipation and found himself hard pressed not to tear the thingyy dog’s throat out right there and then. Stepping back once to belay his violent thoughts – which rarely got so out of hand – Sage readied his powerful back legs in a pounce position. ‘Ready?’ he snarled mockingly.
